Traditions, anomalies, mistakes and recommendations in infrared spectrum measurement for wood

Abstract This paper deals with the difficulties of infrared spectroscopy measurement and suggests ways dealing them. Many problems appear when applying ATR (attenuated total reflection) for determining absorbance spectrum wood, especially highly porous nature wood which does not fulfil requirements measurement. Correct determination requires wavelength dependence correction, but some authors miss out doing this. Normalisation (IR) is a useful data manipulation method correct evaluation spectra, incorrect normalisation can destroy preventing appropriately. Examples are given to teach process. The difference an excellent tool present changes in IR only few scientists use it. Usage wavenumbers during presentation traditional nowadays. However, usage gives more expressive than wavenumber if whole interval presented one diagram.
